Frankfurt · Business platforms for advisory firms

Client portals for Steuerberater, Wirtschaftsprüfer, law firms and M&A advisors — without bank-grade overhead

Unified client portals for Frankfurt advisory firms — secure intake, mandate workflow, document exchange, integrated with DATEV / Lexware / sevDesk.

Where we fit · Frankfurt advisory market

Mandates lost between DATEV, Outlook, Excel and a generic SharePoint.

Many advisory firms in Frankfurt run on a fragile setup: client mandates managed across email, DATEV, Excel and disconnected portals — no single source of truth, no audit trail, no clean handover when partners leave.

We build the platform layer that ties these workflows together. Not every Frankfurt project needs bank-grade infrastructure. Most need clear workflows, reliable data, controlled access, EU-hosting options, and software the team can actually own.

  • No single source
mandates spread across email, DATEV, Excel and portals
  • No audit trail
who changed what, when — currently unanswerable
  • Partner-leaves risk
no clean handover when someone exits the firm
  • Excel as the database
critical client data living in spreadsheets
01 · Why Frankfurt

Why Frankfurt is the right city for advisory client portals

Frankfurt and Rhein-Main have a dense professional-services market: tax advisors, audit firms, law firms, M&A boutiques, family offices and wealth managers.

The technical pain often looks similar — mandates and clients tracked across DATEV, Outlook, Excel and a generic SharePoint, with no single source of truth, no audit trail, no clean handover when partners leave. We build the platform layer that ties these workflows together.

We don't replace DATEV. We don't compete with the big systems integrators on bank-grade builds. We sit in the gap that many mid-sized advisory firms actually have.

02 · What we deliver

Four engagement shapes for Frankfurt advisory firms

Each one starts from a real mandate workflow your firm runs today — not from a generic 'digital transformation' frame. We say early when AI, blockchain or any vendor pitch is the wrong tool.

01

Client portals for advisory firms

Secure intake, mandate state, document exchange (DATEV-compatible PDF/XML), billing flow, audit trail per partner and per client. Built on top of DATEV / Lexware / sevDesk where they exist. Role-based access for partners, associates and clients. GDPR-aware, EU-hosted.

02

CRM and pipeline workflows

For sales-led B2B teams, M&A advisory deal pipelines and wealth management lead routing. Integrated with HubSpot, Pipedrive, Salesforce or your existing CRM. Website forms feeding CRM, lead routing, partner-tier ownership, pipeline reporting and follow-up automation where useful.

03

Financial workflows, not regulated FinTech advisory

Invoicing logic, payment state, reconciliation between PSP and DATEV/Lexware, dunning. Architecture for transaction integrity and audit traceability, without becoming a regulated bank. If BAIT, MaRisk, KWG or regulated financial supervision is central to the project, we work only alongside your legal/compliance advisors and do not replace specialist regulated-sector consultants — we can design data flows, access controls and audit trails that wouldn't be wasted if you later upgrade to a regulated tier, but we don't run the audit.

04

Internal tools that replace spreadsheets

For partners, associates and ops teams tired of Notion, Airtable and Excel. Custom-built for one workflow done well, not a generic platform. Admin panels, approval flows, reporting and exports, operational KPIs, migration from spreadsheets or no-code tools.

03 · Proof

Relevant advisory and operational platform work

Selected builds where mandate workflows, secure document exchange, audit trails or operational platforms shaped the architecture.

Closest analog for Frankfurt advisory firms is Wenzel (criminal defence digital platform — public site, client portal, internal case workspace, document workflows, billing state, traceable case events). The same architecture pattern applies to tax advisory, wealth management and M&A advisory portals.

Frequently asked

Frankfurt advisory portals — what firms ask first

  1. 01Do you replace DATEV / Lexware / sevDesk?

No. DATEV stays the system of record for tax and accounting workflows. We build the portal layer on top, reading from / writing to DATEV through its documented integration paths. Same for Lexware, sevDesk and lexoffice — we integrate, we don't replace.

  2. 02Do you build BAIT / MaRisk / KWG-regulated systems?

If BAIT, MaRisk, KWG or regulated financial supervision is central to the project, we work only alongside your legal/compliance advisors and do not replace specialist regulated-sector consultants. We can design data flows, access controls and audit trails that wouldn't be wasted if you later need to upgrade to a regulated tier — but the audit, certification and regulated-sector advisory are not our work.

  3. 03Can you build a client portal for a Frankfurt advisory or service business?

Yes. Secure intake, mandate state, document exchange, billing flow, audit trail per partner and per client. Role-based access for partners, associates and clients. This can reduce email-based mandate handling and give clients a clear place to interact with the firm.

  4. 04Are you a DATEV / Lexware certified partner?

We're not certified partners. Integration is at the documented API / file-format level, vendor-neutral. That keeps us honest about which platform is right for the firm rather than biased toward partner-revenue.

  5. 05Where do you host advisory client portals?

Hetzner Falkenstein/Nürnberg, AWS Frankfurt (eu-central-1), Azure Germany or your own infrastructure. We do not plan US-hosted services unless your data-protection owner explicitly approves that route. Sub-processor inventory is part of the handover.

  6. 06Can you integrate with our CRM or existing tools?

Yes, where API access and project scope allow it. CRMs (HubSpot, Pipedrive, Salesforce), payment tools, DATEV/Lexware, document workflows, analytics tools or internal databases. We define the source of truth before implementation starts.

  7. 07Can you replace spreadsheets or manual back-office workflows?

Yes. Many engagements start when Excel, Notion, Airtable or email threads become too fragile for daily operations. We map the current workflow first, then design a structured system with roles, data, permissions and reporting.

  8. 08Do you have a Frankfurt office or always work remote from Berlin?

We're based in Berlin but Frankfurt is a meaningful part of our work. On-site kickoff in Frankfurt, regular Frankfurt days during active engagements, direct contact during the engagement. For high-touch advisory work we scale that up as needed.

  9. 09What's the typical Frankfurt engagement cost and timeline?

Indicative B2B ranges, plus VAT where applicable: Architecture sprint: 5 days, €3,500–7,500. Advisory client portal: 8–14 weeks, €35,000–€80,000. Multi-mandate / multi-partner platform: 14–24 weeks, from €60,000 for the first phase; broader scope phased after the architecture sprint. Embedded engineering: from €4,000/month (deeper capacity €8,000–15,000/month). Final price after a 30-minute scoping call.

  10. 10Can you take over a stalled portal project from another agency?

Yes. We can come in on stuck portal builds — failed contractor, lost source, agency went silent. For acute cases see our Software Rescue service (48-hour triage + 5-day deep dive). For planned hand-overs we do a 5-day architecture assessment first.

  11. 11How long does a Frankfurt business platform project take?

A focused Architecture Sprint takes 5 days. A first production version of a portal, internal tool or business platform usually takes 6–12+ weeks depending on roles, integrations, data migration, document workflows and admin complexity.

  12. 12Do you build regulated FinTech systems?

We support finance-adjacent and payment-adjacent workflows such as billing, subscriptions, transaction records, client portals and reporting. We do not position this service as bank-grade compliance or licensed FinTech advisory. For regulated financial products, legal and regulatory responsibility stays with the client and their specialist advisors.

Frankfurt advisory firms

We're the team Steuerberater, Wirtschaftsprüfer and law firms call when DATEV plus Excel isn't enough anymore

Every advisory firm in Rhein-Main eventually outgrows the email + DATEV + SharePoint workflow. Partners need to see mandate status without asking. Clients ask why they have to upload the same document three times. New associates spend their first month learning where things are. We build the unified portal that solves these — without forcing the firm off DATEV, without bank-grade overhead, without the 12-month Capgemini-style project.

  • Steuerberater: client mandate portal with DATEV-compatible document flow, fee-state tracking, partner dashboards
  • Wirtschaftsprüfer: audit workspace with evidence intake, sign-off workflow, traceable engagement events
  • Law firms: matter management portal with controlled client access, billing state, document versions and audit trail
  • M&A advisory boutiques: deal pipeline + virtual data room + LP/buyer access tiers, integrated with HubSpot or Salesforce
  • Wealth managers / family offices: investor portal with portfolio reporting layer, document workflow and LP/GP access control

We don't replace DATEV, Lexware or your CRM. We build the portal layer on top. Implementation typically 8–14 weeks. Related platform references available on request where confidentiality allows.

Is this you?

Frankfurt advisory situations we hit

Specific moments we see with Frankfurt and Rhein-Main advisory firms — tax, audit, legal, M&A, wealth management. If two or three sound familiar, this is the right page.

Your partners keep asking 'what's the status on the X mandate?' over Slack

Nobody knows without opening DATEV, the email thread, the SharePoint folder and the partner's Notebook. The information exists. It's just not visible.

Your clients upload the same document three times

Once to DATEV Unternehmen online. Once to the SharePoint folder you sent them. Once over email because they couldn't find the link. They notice.

Your senior associate spent her first month learning where things live

Onboarding new associates is a 4–6 week archaeology project. Most of that is finding the mandate documents, not learning the law / tax code.

You looked at Capgemini and the answer was €600,000

You're not a bank. You're a 15-partner advisory firm. The Capgemini-tier project doesn't fit your scale. The Webflow agency doesn't fit your complexity. The market between those two is where you actually live.

Your partners want a portal, but nobody can describe the workflow on paper

Every meeting about the portal becomes another scope-creep session. Until the workflow is clear, the build will keep redesigning itself.

Your billing reconciliation eats 3 finance days a month

DATEV bookings vs Stripe payouts vs invoice state in your portal — these don't agree. Your finance team is becoming a manual reconciliation team. A different architecture may be needed.

DATEV-aware by default

DATEV integration without forcing a migration

DATEV is deeply embedded in German tax and audit practice. We design portals so DATEV stays the system of record and the portal reads from / writes to DATEV through its documented integration paths. Same approach for Lexware, sevDesk, lexoffice and Sage where smaller firms use them. We integrate through published APIs, file formats or controlled import/export workflows — exact data flows are mapped during discovery, since not every record type is available on every connector.

  • DATEV API, DATEV Unternehmen online workflows, EXTF exports/imports and document-flow patterns where technically and contractually available
  • Document exchange compatible with DATEV Unternehmen online and DATEV-format PDFs
  • Reconciliation flow between PSP / Stripe billing and DATEV bookings
  • Lexware / sevDesk / lexoffice as the SME equivalent for smaller firms
  • Migration path documented if you ever do want to move off DATEV — but we don't push for that

We're not DATEV-certified partners. Integration is at the published API/file-format level, vendor-neutral — and we don't promise data fields that DATEV connectors don't expose.

EU hosting by default

German and EU hosting first — US-hosted services only with explicit approval

Frankfurt advisory clients care about data residency more than almost any other DACH segment. We deploy to Hetzner (Falkenstein, Nürnberg), AWS Frankfurt or your own infrastructure. We do not plan advisory client portals on US-hosted services unless your data-protection owner explicitly approves that route. The sub-processor list is part of the handover so your DPO can review it.

  • Hetzner Falkenstein / Nürnberg — cost-conscious EU hosting option
  • AWS Frankfurt (eu-central-1) — when AWS-native services are needed
  • Azure Germany / France — for Microsoft-stack firms
  • On-premise / private cloud — when the firm runs its own infrastructure
  • Sub-processor inventory ready for DPA review from day one
When the answer is don't build it

Sometimes the fit is to not build the portal yet

Conservative Frankfurt buyers have seen plenty of over-sold consulting. We say it when it's true: fix the workflow on paper first, automate one step manually, then come back when the case is clear. Advisory firms with under 10 partners and under 100 active mandates often don't need a custom portal — DATEV plus a disciplined SharePoint structure can carry you for another year. We tell you that even when it costs us the engagement, because the alternative is a portal you don't use after launch.

  • Under 10 partners, under 100 active mandates: a disciplined DATEV + SharePoint setup probably still fits
  • No clear partner-side ownership: portal will get built and then never adopted — fix this first
  • Workflow not yet documented on paper: implementation will keep redesigning until it ships, which is expensive
  • Compliance posture undecided: clarify BaFin / BAIT / MaRisk applicability before architecting around assumptions

We're a software studio, not a transformation consultancy. The cases where we add real value are clear; the rest, we say so.
